One of the greatest TV shows of all time is at risk of being canceled. Arrested Development, winner of 5 Emmy awards, has halted production on the second season after just 18 episodes, 4 short of originally planned 22. Now the rumors are Fox is seriously considering canceling it for good. This must not happen. Arrested Development is by far the greatest TV show I have ever seen. It has a killer cast, a totally original format and unbelievably funny writing and acting.
If you have not seen Arrested Development yet you should go buy or Netflix the first season on DVD right away, you will not regret it. If you already have seen the show then you know what I mean when I say "it must stay on the air". The Arrested Development website has a put up a "Get Arrested Loyalty Oath" trying to raise support for a third season, so everyone should submit your pledge.

This is seriously scary. The best show on TV, hands down. It even beats Curb Your Enthusiasm. Buster is the best TV sitcom character ever, and everyone else is spot-on as well (especially Lucille, and the two kids, George Michael and Maeby). This is the kind of news that makes me want to slam my door, lock it, bury my face in a pillow and scream until the pain is gone. SAVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!

I love the show, i watch each episode at least three times after it comes on the air. If it goes, I don't know what I will do, it is one of those shows, that is just.... IT NEEDS TO BE ON THE AIR

Wow, this really sucks. I have been on the road for a month so I had no clue. I bought the Season One DVD after a post you had on it a while ago. Fox is the worst network for having a good show, first Family Guy (which of course now that is a hit they bring back) and now this! I hope that they at least release season two on DVD and some other network picks up the next season or something.
This fucking ruined my day.

Fox just doesn't get it sometimes. They cancel Futurama and the Family Guy, but the let the Simpsons limp along past their prime without a second thought.

Fox doesn't have the balls to kill this show. Someone WILL pick it up if they do, and market it better. This is the best show on TV--they know it and the other network do to.

Great show. I never paid it much attention until I caught it mentioned on this blog. Now I tune in every week. Hilarious! Love the cameos. I just signed the petition today and I'm trying to get my friends to do the same.

Anyways, I have a friend in L.A. who does sound for a number of television shows who told me that Fox was actually reconsidering this move and that if they did drop the show, other networks have already expressed interest in picking it up. Of course, this is coming from a secondary source, but I think it's legit.
I actually don't get any television channels at my house, but I rented all of the season one DVD's after this same friend recommended that I check it out and I became instantly addicted to it! I can't wait until the next season is available on DVD.
I'm not a fan of the show (because I've never seen it and don't watch much tv), but this is a movement worth supporting.
Reality television is the worst thing to happen to TV. I'll support great shows with original writing and acting whenever it is needed.
Well, Desperate Housewives is better than the Arrested Development, in my opinion.

Best show on television, period. Best cast I've ever seen put together, and it looks like the waiting list just to make a guest appearance is around the corner!
I want to be VERY enthusiastic about this - ratings might not be good, but those who like this show LOVE this show, with passion. I never thought that I'd use the term "passion" with regards to a television program, but there you have it.
The Office ain't bad! I am making a point now to watch television on Tuesday nights - Scrubs and The Office.
I agree with everybody here. Arrested Development is the best show ever made. It would be a crime for this show to die. What seriously sucks is that unlike Family Guy, which is just a cartoon and can be duplicated at a later time, the cast here might not be kept intact if the show did catch on later after more people check out the dvd and realize what an awesome show this is.
Also, I think the British version of The Office is much better. NBC's version is watchable, but I had higher expectations with Steve Carrell
i do not usually write on these kinds of things but i left my arrested development dvd's at home and am going through some intense withdrawals.. good thing i started smoking again! i was trying to find episodes to download online for free.. turns out it isn't very easy to find them.. or atleast i don't know where the fuck to look.. i stumbled across the words that told me that this show was leavin town.. oohhhhh shit.. everytime i get really into something it becomes a problem.. well i am going to buy all they have for me to buy and watch it until i no longer laugh consistantly for hours.. i too adore this show.. it has seinfeld potential.. i was ready for this show to go on for a good decade.. but this is not the end my friends.. NO.. there has to be something that will keep this show going.. i am going to find out what it is and make the world a better place in the process.. wish me luck and good luck to you all!!!

This show is really truly talent filled...from the writing to the acting to the editing..it is wonderful. I will be devestated if it is cancelled.

After seeing all the comments here about Arrested Development I just went out and bought myself the first series on DVD. Have watched 3 episodes so far, and the show is pretty funny, although I'm yet to get hooked (may still happen though).
Unfortunately I never saw this show when it was on TV in Australia. Apparently the 7 Network had it for a while, but ran it late at night, and I don't even think they showed the whole season.

I'm a little late to the news, but I did a follow up post on my blog.
I have made serveral posts to my blog in the past about how it would a crime to cancel this show. I've spoken out in the past about how I don't think networks give enough time for shows to mature.
Regardless, just because we've got a third season doesn't mean it is time to rest. We've got to spread the word and get everyone watching it so we can get a 4th, 5th, etc.
So do your part. Tell your friends. Sign the oath/petition at getarrested.com to be a loyal viewer.
Change your msn name to 'watch arrested development' (I did). Add it to your signatures. Tell people to rent the first DVD collection and they'll be sold on it.
Everyone do your part! Although this is great news.

All the characters are amazing, the acting is perfect and the 'hidden' meanings behihnd what Tobias says are funny. One of my favorite characters is Gob, of Jobe (Dunno how to spell it). Yes, Arrested Development MUST be saved!!!

This is without a doubt the smartest and most hilarious show ever put on television. To cancel it would show just how fucking stupid Fox is. RATINGS ARE MEANINGLESS. Somehow the little 100 person sample they use to create the ratings is always the same bunch of seriously retarded people who only respond positively to slapstick comedy that uses laugh tracks to tell you when the show is being fucking funny. If Fox dumps AD, then HBO or NBC better fucking pick it up, or they're just as ignorant. If Family Guy didn't show these networks the error in cancelling a show due to suppodely bad "ratings," then they deserve to be fucking shot.

I honestly cant believe its over, I know its been a while, but for the record I just saw the final episode on DVD tonight . My girlfriend convinced me to watch an episode from season one which she had on DVD one night and I laughed so hard I ended up staying awake until the whole first season was over. I watched the whole thing in a single sitting and never looked back. The FOX network is stupid for not keeping this show on. I know there are alot of politics and money involved, but for the love of God they really slapped them in the face by canceling the last four episodes to premiere American Dad early so they could compete with the Olympics.
