I am riding my bike to Zoka everyday now and I am really loving it. It is the perfect distance, just enough to get my blood flowing and wake me up. One thing I realize sucked about riding was having my iPod in my pocket and not being able to change songs. I did a search on the net and found this iPod bike mount. It is really great, it mounts right on the handle bars so I can see what's playing and completely control the iPod. I was riding today and was able to navigate the menus, change playlist and then pick a song all while I was cruising at full speed.

Listening to them on your way to work and on your way home you can go through a couple books you would have other wise never experienced every month.

How did you take that picture without taking one hand off of the handle bar?
Is that true? I see something on your iPhoto Display, like something has burn the plastic. I hope it is only the iPod bicycle mount and not the iPod itself!

Anonymous... I'm pretty sure that *burn* on the screen you are referring to is the album art displayed on Mike's iPod Photo.
A photo of both hands, all while cursing at full-speed? Impressive! ;-)
I'm guessing Mike took the picture while standing still and not moving and then blurred the ground in photoshop, unless you have some sort of camera head mount :-)
We all know Mike has a camera implanted in his lower jaw... I don't see what's so suprising :-/.
Does the Bike Mount snap onto a knob on the back of your iPod case or something?

To use this mount you need to buy on of there cases with a special clip on the back. They are not the best cases but they are pretty inexpensive. I think I got the mount and the case of $30.
Mike was working on this blog post last night when I was trying to get him to wrap up for dinner. He definitely puts good effort into everything he does - I saw before & after pictures for this post. He added in things like the "18" LED display, and the second hand on the right, as well as blurring the background and a ton of other things it was looking like. You guys should get Mike to post the "before" image because it's pretty crazy. He really is a master of Photoshop!
Just remember not to listen to music too loud while riding the bicycle, for your safety concern. :-)

Apparently, the companies that are doing this understand that a lot of people are stupid and either sign up without looking at something or forget to cancel subscriptions and therefore the companies make a LOT of money...but if you can beat them at it, then you get a free Ipod....a few of my friends have already done it!
The case pictured is one from Marware. They use a "Multidapt" mounting system that interchanges with all of their cases.
If you want to use any case at all you can use the Universal Bicycle and Helicopter mount found here:

It uses a Gripmatic grip which has soft gripping rubber on both sides and it has some "give" so you can really get a firm grip on your iPod. It can handle any iPod made except the Shuffle (too narrow).
If you want some extra shock absorption (other than the rubber grips) try using the ToughSkin case by Speck. It also provides some bump protection. it can be found here:

I use a neoprene armband-case while on my bike; unfortunately my handlebars are already too full - lights, bell, GPS, computer, etc.

Dammit they've brought out some new colours now. When i bought mine it was only available in Model T black.

Mike - Thanks for the info. I'm also looking for an iPod bike mount. When I went to Marware, it looked like the iPod mount was different than the one on your bike. You pic shows the iPod being available to view and change songs. The Marware photo looks like the ipod would be completely covered up. Is there something special I need to get from Marware? One other question: how do you protect your ipod in rainy weather? Thanks, Mark
The iPod Case shown in the picture above is the SportSuit Convertible. The lid actually comes off. You can see what it looks like with the lid on (1st picture) and lid off (3rd picture) here:

The blurred background is obviously Photoshopped, guys. The giveaway? The sidewalk and ground ahead of the bike is blurred. It wouldn't actually appear blurred until the bike passes directly over it. But the overall effect is still nice.

Mike, I know you are probably tired of getting questions regarding this mount, but I will have to ask another one. Have you had any problems with your iPod since you started using this mount? I was wondering if the vibration could damage the internal hard disk... I have a 60GB iPod with video.

Erm.. Nope. Everything stationary relative to the camera/bike would be blurred, whether in front of the bike or not.

You're not actually using HEADPHONES while riding, are you?? Talk about unsafe! I made a speaker to go on my bike instead... it's not loud enough to drown out traffic noises.
